The Carter Center announced in February 2023 that President Carter chose to entrust his care to hospice in his hometown of Plains, Georgia. This philosophy of care provided President Carter with palliative treatment in his home as well as support for his family. He died peacefully receiving such care, surrounded by his family, and rejoins his wife, Rosalynn, who also passed peacefully on hospice care in November 2023.
“Our organization may not have provided care for President Carter and his family, but his decision to trust the hospice mission is an inspiration to all who serve its purpose,” added Molosky. “It strengthens our resolve to continue innovating and providing the highest standards of care in chronic illness care.”
