The Iowa Department of Inspections and Appeals (DIA) has awarded Healthcare Management Solutions, LLC (HMS) a contract to support its work by providing qualified surveyors to conduct long-term care (nursing home) recertification surveys including complaint investigations.
“We are very proud to have been selected to provide this support to the Iowa DIA,” said Leah Heimbach, President of HMS. “All Iowans deserve quality long-term care, and we truly value this opportunity to help protect vulnerable populations in the state.”
Recertification surveys are required by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for all certified nursing homes. HMS will be partnering with Iowa’s DIA in inspecting nursing homes’ critical element pathways, conducting a comprehensive review of everything from infection control and nursing services, medication, diet and exercise, patients’ rights, the physical environment and much more.
“Our highly skilled HMS surveyors will be applying their expertise along with our technology and long-term care survey tools to assist Iowa’s inspectors in a hands-on partnership,” added Heimbach. “We know how important quality care is to Iowans, evidenced by the Governor’s Award for Quality Care in Health Care Facilities, and we are eager to help Iowa DIA ensure that all nursing homes live up to CMS’ and Iowa’s standards.”
