Uniform Advantage announces donations totaling $25,000 to charities worldwide

“UA remains committed to supporting the communities we call home around the world,” said Uniform Advantage® CEO Susan Masimore. “This year, we focused more on organizations that serve people in need of healthcare services – and those who provide them. As always, those receiving the donations share our passion for helping people in need.”

This year’s contributions are awarded to:

United States

Nurse House ($4,000) – Nurse House grants cover rent or mortgage payments to ensure nurses facing a serious medical crisis don’t lose their home as a result.

National Black Nurses Association ($4,000) – NBNA chapters volunteer to provide health education and screenings to community residents in collaboration with community-based partners.

World Central Kitchen ($5,000) – WCK has had a strong presence in Florida and other states during hurricanes and other humanitarian emergencies. Their team of “food first responders” gets meals to people in times of crisis.

Costa Rica

Bandera Blanca ($2,000)Bandera Blanca assists families with at-risk children by ensuring access to food and special-needs education.

ALCCI/Amigos Costa Rica ($1,000) – For 40 years, ALCCI has provided lodging, meals, medicines and more for children diagnosed with cancer, and their families.

India

Foundation for Initiatives in Development and Education for All (IDEA) – $2,000 to UDAAN, providing educational resources to needy children; and $2,000 to ASHAKIRAN, supporting skills development courses for women and youth.

Dominican Republic (through GlobalGiving)

Fundación Grupo Punta Cana ($1,000) – To give assistance and support to 3,000 impoverished, disabled children in La Altagracia province.

Mariposa DR Foundation ($1,000) – The Mariposa Girls Leadership Program educates, employs and empowers girls living in extreme poverty, developing marketable skills and leadership qualities.

Haiti

Doctors Without Borders ($3,000) – Delivering a wide range of medical services in Port-au-Prince and other locations, including general healthcare, and treatment for burns, trauma and injuries from violence and displacement.

Masimore praised the work of the UA’s Empowering Change Committee.

“All voices are heard and valued at UA,” she said. “In addition to representing the diversity of our workforce and the places they live, the ECC works incredibly hard in awarding these grants. We’re so grateful for their dedication.”
